As with every Friday of a festival the feel good factor is riding high, probably higher than that, enough to deal with the occasional downpour and a few traffic queues.
The site has filled out, since our photos earlier in the week but the reality is that whilst the stage has moved forward towards the hill similar to the earlier days of Rockness. It creates a cosier feel.
We are not convinced that the festival footprint is bigger (and don’t know), but intimate without being uncomfortable.There seems to be a few more nooks and cranny’s which by all account give it the depth that we have not experienced in the past. The emphasis seems to be on offering a varied experience (which is a clever move given the challenges of signing the music acts as identified by Jim King)
We need to say a word about the VIP area, having never been before there is no point of comparison, but the location and the milieu was almost spot on, and certainly from the feedback we received, Rockness has managed to give people who can afford it the luxury that warrants the VIP status.
On the whole, the site, feels significantly more than just a music festival site, a change which certainly makes the event sit separate from it’s bigger rival and learning from it’s peers in the Highlands.
