Well this announcement certainly caught us a little of guard but we have had a massive smile on our faces (and given the Facebook chatter, we are not the only ones!) following the announcement that that some of the most exciting DJ talent from Inverness and The Scottish Highlands is set to keep the party rockin’ all weekend including ABRAHAM THUNDERWOLF, POLYMATH, FILTH, THE LED, SOUNDCLASH DJs and AUDIOLIFE. If you have no idea who these guys are, they represent the backbone of the club scene in Inverness, although to be honest their reach is constantly growing, and to have their contribution acknowledged is simply fantastic (and will stop us from gurning for a wee while).

Also formally announced is that James Mackenzie and the Aquascene will also be playing desbribed by Rockness as being able to “”evoke the finest moments of Damien Rice and Crosby, Stills & Nash yet maintain an originality that is melodic, engaging and uplifting”. Festival Director Jim King commented “We’re really pleased to announce these latest acts. JAMES MACKENZIE & THE AQUASCENE are a really talented local band that I can’t wait to hear live”. We are sure that James and Co will be able to live up to the anticipation of the GiG and gain more than a few new fans on the way.

Also announced on the line up MS DYNAMITE. Massively important in her genre with strong connections to the underground and a number of notable cutting edge collaborations to her credit, expect an amazing live show and stunning return to form. As Artwork of MAGNETIC MAN, who also play RockNess this year comments “the energy she brings is unreal. MS DYNAMITE is one of those people who puts her own stamp on everything she does. She’s just got it. Her amazing stage presence helps too.”

She will be joined by Yasmin who is fresh from supporting Example, Swedish popstars Niki and the Dove, bringing the retro rock is Tom Odell, the dynamic vocals of Mike Dignam, DJ and remixer Zedd, recent support act for Glasvegas, Strawberry Ocean Sea, festival favourite Caged Baby, the legend that is Graeme Park oh and of course the Rockness Ceilidh Allstars.

To be honest with you we never thought Rockness would be making an announcement of this pedigree, this late in the day, but happy happy days.

Oh and in response to the news about the number of Inverness DJ’s playing Rockness, Let Local Dj’s have their own tent to play at Rockness group wrote ” Excellent news, but we should aim for tent dedicated to it for the whole weekend next year, followed by complete local takeover by 2014. Totally delighted though :)” We are not convinced they are joking….

Tickets are still available from the usual vendors.of Dores, close to Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
